Description

Cargo des Arts is located 30 minutes from Nouméa, at the entrance of the Yaté road leading to the Blue River Park.
In a lush natural setting, in Mont-Dore, Francis Lôter, a visual artist who settled in New Caledonia some twenty years ago, opens the doors of his creative space. A first 180-square-metre hall gathers about forty large-scale wooden sculptures, along a path inspired by a Melanesian legend called the 'Great Voyage', which traces the cycle of life in Province Sud. A second room extends the story through paintings and sculptures dedicated to Melanesian myths and cults of eternal life, in dialogue with works from Papua New Guinea and creations made from elements of 'blue boats'. The Cargo des Arts is best experienced slowly, in the quiet of the works. Book your visit.
