Celebrate Halloween in the heart of nature at Great ferns provincial park in South Province, New Caledonia! Join us on Saturday, October 31 from 3:00 PM for a free, family-friendly event dedicated to discovering and protecting local barn owls. Organized with the Ga’Hoole sanctuary, this afternoon event features fun, educational talks at 3:00 PM exploring the secrets of these protected birds, followed by a grand owl release at 4:00 PM. Up to 15 recovering owls are currently cared for at the sanctuary, and guests will see which ones—such as Bébé Brume, Bubble, Poot, Ohran, or Primevère—are ready to take flight into the wild. Did you know? The Ga’Hoole sanctuary is a local association dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating injured owls. The barn owl is a protected species under the South Province environmental code. Meet us at the park entrance from 3:00 PM. Important note: The event at the park entrance is free of charge. However, standard entry fees apply for accessing the park's hiking trails.
