This short family itinerary allows you to discover 3 types of original plant formations of the Great South: the mining scrub, the paraforestry scrub and the dense humid forest. Beautiful viewpoints and possibility to meet cagous.
D Departure: from the information panel, enter the forest (south-east) and climb the winding path. Climb silently in the dense humid forest (kagus inhabit this area). Reach the paraforest bush.
1 Intersection (GPS: 672 345 – 7 555 486): turn left and continue uphill. Pass a frequently dry creek and reach an open area.
2 Lookout on the Grand Kaori (visible below, right bank of the Blue River): continue to climb around the hillock by the east or the west.
3 Summit (GPS: 672 492 – 7 555 362; alt. 335m) (covered with mining maquis [bush]; lookout towards the south-east over the Drowned Forest): cross the summit and take the downhill path which plunges to the north-west. Go past the “Maquis” sign.
