The hot springs are still going strong, and the one at Kaoris Bay is equipped with a deck, a walkway and picnic tables for hikers’ enjoyment.
Built into the deck is a 2.5 m x 2 m rectangular pool, about 1 m deep, and a wooden kiosk. The pool was the island’s first thermal “baths” and was described by Charles Lemire in 1878 as having a wooden bottom and a drainage channel.
Access:
At the mouth of Kaoris River. Accessible on foot or by boat.
New: a signposted footpath leads you here from Route de l’Usine du Sud (the Prony hot springs footpath).
