Bourail Museum, located in the former prison “supply store”, stands at the entrance to the village in an impressive stone building listed as a historical monument. It retraces the region’s history through the different eras, from the time of the petroglyphs through to the Second World War. During your visit, you will find out more about the history and traditions of the Orôwé and Neku tribes, the rigours of life on a prison farm and the guillotine. The museum offers a moving, immersive experience that helps you understand how the Bourail-La Foa region came to be settled. When you buy your ticket, you’ll get a visitor's book on the museum and its exhibits. You’ll also learn about the heritage of the prison building itself.
