Since its first edition in 1877, the Bourail Fair, held every year on the weekend of 15 August, has become a true institution in southern New Caledonia. Over the years, this event has captured the hearts of locals and visitors alike, becoming a must-attend event for discovering the region’s rich cultural, artisanal, and agricultural heritage.
The programme includes the famous rodeo, as well as agricultural competitions, dog shows, bull dogging, lumberjacking, shearing demonstrations, western equestrian games and dressage, motocross, culinary and musical events, traditional shows, and much more.
The Bourail Fair is much more than just a traditional market. It’s a festival that celebrates the diversity and authenticity of the region’s produce and livestock farmers, and showcases Caledonian Broussarde culture.
For 3 days, the fair hosts numerous exhibitors, events, and exhibitions at the Hippodrome de Téné. It welcomes some 25,000 visitors every year, making it the biggest event in New Caledonia.
