The ornithological observatory of the Marais Fournier allows you to observe the numerous species of birds present on the Domaine de Deva while enjoying the beauty of the forest that surrounds the marsh.
The Marais Fournier is an ecological sanctuary that is home to a large number of bird species, some of which are endemic to New Caledonia. Birds such as the New Caledonian crow, reputed to be the most intelligent bird in the world, or the whistling kite, are frequently observed from the ornithological observatory. If you are lucky, you may also come across more shy species such as the White-bellied goshawk, which can only be seen in New Caledonia. With a little patience and with the help of binoculars from the ornithological observatory, you will undoubtedly be rewarded and will be able to discover some of the hidden treasures of the Deva Domain.
The ornithological observatory of Marais Fournier is located on the Deva estate, about 3km from the second checkpoint after the Sheraton hotel. This place is accessible via the Giants hiking trail or via the connecting path that can be taken from the "From the forest of the origins to the lagoon" hiking trail.
