As every year, the Sud Tourisme Attractivity agency and Enercal are renewing their exclusive event : a guided tour of the Yaté hydroelectric power station, open to the public only once a year. Visible from afar and impressive in size, the Yaté Dam is a source of fascination. But how many can truly say they’ve stepped inside its gates?
Scheduled for July 5, this exceptional day offers a chance to explore—alongside Enercal’s teams—the inner workings of this strategic infrastructure for New Caledonia. From energy production and site history to the region’s energy transition, this immersion provides a unique insight into a place usually closed to the public.
The day continues in the Touaourou tribe (Yaté) with a traditional meal, a genuine moment of cultural sharing and connection. Afterwards, participants can choose between a cultural activity or a nature walk to the Wadiana waterfall, offering a scenic and heritage-rich experience.
- Price: 5,000 XPF – includes transport, meal, and activity (the dam visit itself is free).
- Very limited spots – booking required on sudtourisme.nc
